Invitation to Respond to the IOL 2010 Call for Proposals
The sixth annual UT System IOL Conference seeks proposals for interactive and engaging presentations related to changes and innovations in online education. Proposals that address the unique challenges and opportunities with the delivery, support, evaluation, and management of online teaching and learning are encouraged.
Topic examples:
- collective instructional experiences
- cutting-edge technologies
- pedagogical methodologies
- research, examples of learning communities
- best practices for encouraging interactivity
Proposal submissions from individuals outside of UT System are welcomed. All presenters are required to register and pay for the conference. Be sure to register by April 9, 2010 to qualify for the early bird registration rate.
Preconference Workshops
Submissions for IOL Preconference Workshops are no longer being accepted.
Concurrent Sessions
Presentations will be held May 26-28, 2010. The call for concurrent session proposals is now closed.

- Committee Review Deadline Friday, February 12, 2010
- Speaker Acceptance Notification Friday, February 22, 2010

Conference Tracks:
- Teaching and Learning: pedagogy, learning communities, peer evaluation, assessment
- Student and Faculty Services: library, financial aid, help desk, registration
- Course Development: instructional design, best practices, accessibility, multimedia
- Administration and Policies: marketing, management, staffing, organizational issues
- Technology: CMS/LMS administration, data integration, application development, security, records management
Concurrent Sessions:
Concurrent sessions provide an opportunity to give a one hour presentation that explores creative ways in which faculty and staff are transforming the online learning landscape. Sessions are organized to help foster learning, development, and collaboration in an evolving field. The review committee reserves the right to combine similar or complimentary proposals into one session in order to accommodate the greatest number of beneficial presentations to conference attendees.
Proposal Review Criteria:
Organized, well-delivered presentations covering topics of practical value to attendees’ day-to-day work are desired. Reviewers look for clear descriptions, and considerable weight is given to proposals that specify session learning objectives and describe how the content will be valuable to attendees.
Proposal Elements:
Proposals must include all of the following sections which are found in the online submission tool.
- Lead Presenter Contact Information
- Co-presenter Information (if applicable)
- Conference Track
- Title (10 words max)
- Abstract (50 words max)
- Full Description (300-500 words)
- Keywords
- Presentation Type (standard presentation or panel)
- Suggested Audience (beginner, intermediate or advanced)
- Experience Level
- Technology Requirements
